Bio:

Michelle Hallinan is an artist, print maker and educator who creates works on paper inspired through immersion and walking in the natural environment. She manages Artis Naturae where individuals and small groups go into nature to be immersed in observing the textures, colours and patterns, feel connected to the beauty of the natural world and connect to their creativity.

Made.In.Newcastle Project:

Michelle Hallinan created Connecting with Nature Pathway at Civic Visitor Information Centre, an ephemeral community project where participants’ ideas and sketches were drawn onto the pavement using coloured chalk. Participants walked around the selected environment observing and connecting to the trees and vegetation noticing the colours and textures and patterns. Using pavement chalk, individuals were allocated a section of paving to draw their discovery on the pavement. The outcome of the workshop was a completed mural. The project provided opportunities for the general public to explore their creativity, connect to the natural environment of Newcastle in a different way and contribute to a larger creative project.
